Why Marlowe is not Shakespeare

Christopher Marlowe is one of the many candidates thought to be William Shakespeare with some evidence to back it up. This theory is highly unlikely and can be proven false. An example of this is that Christopher Marlowe was murdered before Shakespeare came onto the scene.

Marlowe was already a famous playwright at his time therefore there would be no reason for him to need to take up the name of William Shakespeare. There is also no evidence that Shakespeare was not Shakespeare in the first place. It seems that just recently there have been theories that Shakespeare is a different person, showing that there probably was not any suspicion when he was around.

It is known that Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway while Christopher Marlowe married Micaela Lujan. Also one fact about Shakespeare is that he had 8 children and 7 survive to adulthood while Marlowe only have 6 of his children survive to adulthood. How could these facts be so different if they are the same person?

One of the big reasons that Christopher Marlowe can not be Shakespeare is that Marlowe was reported to be killed on May 30, 1593 at the age of 29 after being stabbed. The fight was over paying a bill while Marlowe and his friends were at a tavern. He was killed by a fatal stab in the eye. Many people think that he could have just faked his own death but there is not a good chance that he would have gotten away with it.

This has shown that there are many reasons why Marlowe could not have been Shakespeare. He died before he could have written any of the Shakespeare plays. It is probably more realistic to think that they were rivals instead of being the same person. Marlowe was a great playwright therefore he probably had to compete with Shakespeare.

Positive 1
Christopher Marlowe is William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare is remembered as one of the greatest writers to have ever lived, but was he really alive? Another man by the name of Christopher Marlowe is more likely to have written all the works accredited to William Shakespeare. Christopher Marlowe worked as a well known writer, and was accredited with many amazing pieces of literature.
First of all Marlowe attended public school, and went to the University. This would normally be an overlooked piece of evidence, but it proves that he would have had the education providing him with the ability to write plays and poetry. He did most of his writing between 1585 and 1593, when he wrote his most famous work. He had the ability to write great plays, but his life was running into a roadblock. Marlowe had been involved in undercover government work, and therefore was wanted dead by several men. He knew that he had to some way get away from his old life, and the only way was to end it.
This leads to the conspiracy of Marlowe's death. He was said to have been murdered in a bar, but did he actually die there? Marlowe knew he was a target by several hostile men, and he may have staged his own death in order to be free. He had many friends in high places, and these friends had the power to make Marlowe disappear for good.
Marlowe was close with the queens Lord Treasurer, Lord Burghley. Lord Burghley was of high power and had helped Marlowe out before. A man under Burghley's control was said to have escorted a group of men across the river outside the location of Marlowe’s supposed death, and this group went right past Marlowe’s home town.
Another piece of evidence to aid the theory of his staged death was the fact that the man who killed him, Ingram Frizer, was given a pardon by the queen. The queen back in thoes days wouldn't just give at a prardon at random, this is why this pardon is so significant. It suggests sometime of conspiracy.
Another interesting fact is that a man had died a day before Marlowe named John Penry. John Penry was born one year priar to Marlowe, therefore looking the same age. There are no records of what happened to Penry's body, and therefore Penry’s body could have easily been used as Marlowe’s for the burial. Also Marlowe was said to have died by a stab to the face, therefore making him hard to recognize. The queens own coroner, William Danby, oddly took care of the death, and could have been ordered to say it was Marlowe's body.
Another strong theory supporting Marlowe is that fact that Shakespeare burst onto the scene not a year after Marlowe’s death, and was better than any writer at the time. Marlowe is believed to have created the human named William Shakespeare. Shakespeare never had any records of schooling or anything besides birth. This suggests that Marlowe came up with it all. Marlowe couldn't stop writing, and continued his writings under the name of William Shakespeare.
In conclusion there is an enormous amount of evidence pointing to the fact that Christopher Marlowe really was the magnificent William Shakespeare. Marlowe lives through his writing, and has created the worlds greatest writer, William Shakespeare.

Christopher Marlowe positive 2

It can be proven that Christopher Marlowe wrote the plays using sonnet 74, and the life of Christopher Marlowe. Based on this evidence you can conclude that Christopher Marlowe used the name Shakespeare as his fake identity. Christopher Marlowe is Shakespeare.

When you read sonnet 74 it talks about how even though he is dead he will still live on. Christopher Marlowe was said to be dead but he really wasn't he was still alive and you can see that through the writing of sonnet 74. Marlowe uses this sonnet to tell people that he is still living and even though he is not Christopher Marlowe his spirit is the same and he is now Shakespeare.

You know that Christopher Marlowe is Shakespeare because Shakespeare’s writing life didn’t start until Marlowe’s life ended. Marlowe would have easily been able to take on a fake identity of Shakespeare. They both have the same writing style and it is known that Marlowe had enough schooling to write the plays. Whereas it has never been proven that Shakespeare ever had any type of education past basic school. Marlowe liked writing and he needed a new identity that no one would know about, so he came up with Shakespeare.

You can also tell that Christopher Marlowe is Shakespeare because no one ever really knew Shakespeare. There is some evidence that Shakespeare lived but it is only papers that could easily have been forged by Marlowe. Marlowe needed a new identity after he faked his death, and he already was a good writer, so that is the identity he took on. The writing matches up with his previous writing and it all seems to fit with his life and what he has been through.

This is just some of the evidence that Marlowe and Shakespeare are the same person. You really can look at in two ways, either Marlowe was a great agent who was able to successfully take on the identity of Shakespeare and fool millions of people still to this day, or that it is impossible for a man to be able to go that long unnoticed and to fool everyone.

Negative two

While there is some evidence supporting the theory that Christopher Marlowe wrote the works attributed to Shakespeare, it can be proven that he was not however the author. Christopher Marlowe was an accomplished playwright and poet, which would eliminate his need to take on the pseudonym of Shakespeare. He also was killed in an argument in 1593. Also why would he write some plays under a false name and others under his real moniker?

Christopher Marlowe in his lifetime produced seven plays and multiple poems. He wrote plays, which were regarded as great works but nowhere near the level of Shakespearian works. If he wrote his own plays what would his motive for writing further plays under a different name.

If Christopher Marlowe indeed wrote the works accredited to Shakespeare then why would he first write seven plays under his own name? Why wouldn’t he just write all of them under either his own name or assume the pseudonym Shakespeare the whole time? It is argued that he staged his own death so that he could disappear, which would have forced him to take on a cover name. This however is unlikely because of the investigations, which would likely have uncovered such a sham.

Christopher Marlowe could not have written the works in question because he was murdered in May 1593 in a dispute over who would pay the bill, while he was out drinking with some friends. If he was murdered before the publishing of Shakespeare’s works how could he have written them? The argument that his murder was a cover is a popular counter-argument to this, but it is highly unlikely that any of the cover-ups could have passed without notice.

The evidence of why Christopher Marlowe is not Shakespeare greatly outnumbers the evidence supporting it. Christopher Marlowe was an accomplished playwright, but he's not responsible for such works as Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Hamlet. The works mentioned were written by none other than William Shakespeare, not Christopher Marlowe.
